Okanagan Gleaners

If you can clean and chop vegetables, then you can help at our Gleaners plant. Annually our volunteers prepare approximately 5 million servings which are then donated to well-established relief organizations such as World Vision Canada, Mennonite Central Committee and Mission Without Borders. Individuals and families are invited to drop-in and help any morning, Monday through Saturday, from 8:30am-Noon. Working at Gleaners is a great experience for families with children, 8 years and older.

Our mission is to help feed the world’s hungry in Jesus name. We are also seeking a ministry minded Plant Manager for our operation in Oliver BC.

Aids Orphans & Street Children

Worldwide, there are an estimated 16 million AIDS Orphans. Of that number, 11.6 million live in sub-Saharan Africa (that’s over 77%). The vision and goal of AOSC is to provide for children whose parents have died of the HIV/AIDS virus, and children or widows who do not have a sustaining family. Of course our ultimate goal is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This ministry builds Orphan Rescue Units. The Rescue Units are small portable buildings set up near the orphans’ own villages. We can help several hundred orphans in a three to five mile radius of a Unit which we couldn’t possibly do with a resident orphanage. Through these Units, we are meeting the needs of children who once had no one to care for them. We assist the children by providing them with the following:

1. Most importantly, we share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the orphans.
2. Medical treatment and the provision of malaria and other common preventative medications.

3. Food during nutrition seminars and teaching them how to plant gardens and care for animals to prevent starvation.

4. Educational opportunities by providing school fees and uniforms for primary education.

5. Camps for spiritual and social development.

6. We are also making a difference by enhancing village life through the donations of nutrition seminars, wells and grinding mills.

La Gran Vista

La Gran Vista, located just outside San Isidro de General in South Pacific Costa Rica, is an Environmental Conservation Project where students, volunteers, and visitors can learn how a tropical organic farm functions. We are an Educational Institute where individuals can learn how to milk a cow, harvest a mango tree, or use medicinal herbs.  La Gran Vista gives everyone an opportunity to learn about life at its most basic form and exist in a fully sustainable community.

We are happy to receive volunteers, student groups, families, and environmental interns from abroad.  In addition, eco-tourism organizations send groups of volunteers to La Gran Vista every year to participate in the project.

We offer opportunities for undergraduate groups, ASB, graduate students, and researchers to pursue specific interests or field work pertaining to sustainability and organic farming.  Students looking to pursue a career in sustainability will have the opportunity to have practical experience that will be invaluable to their future endeavors.

We believe that the best way to preserve our Planet is for everyone to be active and lend a helping hand to Mother Nature.  The problems are right in front of us, from greenhouse gases to massive landfills, pesticides in our food, and unclean drinking water, making it EVERYONE’S responsibility to wake up and live a more responsible life.

We cannot change the world in a day, but if we all do our part we can change the course of history.  So start today and join us in our attempt to create a more sustainable future.

Thanks for your help and please contact us for more information about La Gran Vista.
