CURE International

CURE International has teaching hospitals in 27 developing countries for the medical and spiritual healing of disabled children and their families. The Christian organization specializes neurological, orthopedic, and congenital birth defect challenges. Needs include: anesthesiologists, plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and orthopedic surgeons. Hospitals located in Afghanistan, Dominican Republic, Honduras, China, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda. They trained over 6,100 medical professionals in the developing world. CURE has both short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities.  One to two week missions trips are available for those interested in medical missions or general ministry. Individuals, families and groups are all welcome to participate.

Based in Britain, Tearfund has been involved in many outstanding Christian-orientated humanitarian efforts in over 50 countries throughout the developing world since 1968.  Two of its major initiatives designed to tackle extreme poverty are ending violence against women, and encouraging  fair trade of gifts and jewelry. They have a quarterly publication called Footsteps and other literature that is very informative.
