The YMCA of Greater Charlotte has served the Charlotte community since 1874. In the past year, we have served more than 175,000 members, 18,000 program members, 2,400 resident campers and 12,800 hundred kids in Camp Thunderbird’s environmental education program. Our branches serve one out of every six people in their market area, the strongest membership penetration of any urban YMCA in North America. Our camps serve children from our region and across the nation. Our service is inclusive of people of all ages, races, gender and socioeconomics regardless of their ability to pay. More than 43,000 people will come and engage at one of our YMCA’s on any given day. The facilities serve as gathering places for singles, couples, families, and kids . . . connecting small groups and creating community.
