Virginia Beach SPCA

The Virginia Beach SPCA, founded in 1966, works to promote a humane community and to prevent cruelty to animals. At the present time, we are the region’s only “open door” shelter, accepting every animal brought to us regardless of breed, age, ownership status, or city of origin. Last year, the Virginia Beach SPCA provided care for nearly 7,000 homeless, injured and abandoned animals, including wildlife. We estimate that the Virginia Beach SPCA has sheltered well over 150,000 animals over the past 37 years, and we have presented humane education programs and pet therapy visits to hundreds of thousands of individuals, from three year olds to residents of nursing homes.
