The SPCA of Monterey County

Formed in 1905 to address the problems of stray “dogs and cats about town” as well as to discuss the “different diseases prevalent among horses” and to “investigate the abuse and fast driving of donkeys and horses,” the SPCA has had a long and rich history of helping people and animals in Monterey County. Today, the SPCA exists to serve the animals and public of Monterey County. We shelter homeless, neglected and abused pets and livestock, and provide humane education and countless other services to the community. We are the local organization you call to investigate animal cruelty, rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife, and aid domestic animals in distress.
