The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County

The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County, first incorporated in 1888, works to protect and promote the well-being of animals and to foster positive relationships between animals and people. The Humane Society offers an array of humane programs, including pet adoptions, education and spay/neuter services. A larger, vastly improved facility, the William Gazecki Animal Shelter, was built in 1997 to replace the old, outdated and cramped facility. Today, The Humane Society shelters more than 25,000 animals every year, maintains more than a dozen Humane Programs, is at the forefront of the progressive animal legislation, and adopts out more animals than any other shelter in the state of Washington.
