Redwings Horse Sanctuary

Redwings Horse Sanctuary, formed in 1991, works to end the abuse, neglect, and slaughter of all equines including horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, and burros through rescue and foster care. In the fall of 1992, Redwings broadened its scope to include permanent shelter for those equines, ensuring them a secure and life-long home at the Sanctuary. Redwings also focuses on addressing various educational, financial, and other factors behind equine neglect. We initiated several programs centered around this goal, including an equine education program for new owners, an equine medical assistance program for owners with low-incomes, and a stray equine pick-up program in partnership with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department.
