Primarily Primates

Primarily Primates is a unique animal protection organization that provides sanctuary, rehabilitation, lifetime care and shelter to various non-native species of primates, birds, mammals, and reptiles that otherwise would continue to suffer from abuse, neglect, or be killed as unwanted surplus. Founded in 1978 by Wallace Swett, Primarily Primates has grown from a facility caring for three monkeys to its present community of more than 600 primates, 150 birds, and various mammals, including a small number of wallabies, horses, bears, and black leopards. Primarily Primates specializes in the care and treatment of monkeys and apes. Through coordination with other organizations we are actively searching for ways to eventually return some of the animals to their native habitats.
