The Nebraska Food Bank Network was formed in 1981 with a 3,800 square foot warehouse with 21 agencies. In that first year we distributed 38,000 pounds of food. In 1985, The Food Bank moved to a 38,000 square foot building downtown. Then in 1999, The Food Bank moved to a more efficient warehouse located at 68th & J streets. Since 1981, The Food Bank has distributed over 66 million pounds of food to 326 agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and low income day cares. The Food Bank is also an affiliate of America’s Second Harvest, a national organization of food banks across the country.
