Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) and Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens form a museum complex which preserves historic buildings, educates people about the history of Winchester and enriches their appreciation of fine and decorative arts. The MSV opened in April of 2005 and tells the story of the art, history, and culture of the great valley for which it is named. Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens opened to the public in 1997; the house features notable eighteenth-and-nineteenth-century furniture and fine art, while the gardens feature numerous fountains and other water features, sculpture, garden “folly” structures, and the historic family cemetery. The Rose Hill property, the site of the Civil War’s First Battle of Kernstown, is not yet open to the public on a regular basis.
