Maryville City of Youth

Maryville was established in 1883 – several years after the Great Chicago Fire and various epidemics resulted in hundreds of homeless and orphaned children. Today, Maryville is the largest residential child-care facility in the state of Illinois. A nationally recognized leader in the treatment of physically, sexually and emotionally abused and neglected children. Maryville annually serves over 16,000 youth at eleven locations. Maryville continues to serve children of all ages, primarily from Chicago’s inner-city and low-income households. Maryville provides specialized services including long-term care, short-term care, diagnostic assessment emergency shelter, therapeutic counseling, recreation and athletics, medical services, vocational training, special education, independent living opportunities and foster care.
