The St. Louis Regional Educational and Public Television Commission was formed in 1952 to facilitate the development of an educational TV station. The resulting television station, KETC, works to improve the quality of life of the citizens of the St. Louis area by creating and disseminating multi-media content that educates, engages and inspires. KETC operates as a public trust and exercises the highest ethical and professional standards; respects its audience’s intelligence; supports diversity of thought and expression; has a strong commitment to children and their parents; recognizes its role as “Missouri’s storyteller”–providing local content in a way no other media outlet does; and has a deep appreciation for the media’s role in shaping society.
