The Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County (HS/SPCA) has served Bexar County and its surrounding areas since 1952. In the past 50 years, we have found homes for over 157,000 animals. We also help make our community a safer place by providing shelter for hundreds of lost pets and strays each year. We serve the Bexar county area covering 1,247 square miles with a population of 1.5 million people. In 2003, 3,631 dogs and 1,422 cats were adopted. Services provided by the society include: pet adoption, lost and found animal search, community outreach and education.
