Habitat For Humanity of Broward

Established in 1983, Habitat for Humanity of Broward is the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity International, an organization dedicated to building a better world, one house at a time. Habitat is founded on the belief that home ownership is one of the best ways to help hard-working people get ahead in life and become better citizens. We don’t give away houses, and participants don’t passively “accept charity.” Habitat homeowners must make a commitment to work hard to build better lives for themselves and their families. They will have to pay a mortgage, although we help them make it more affordable. They will have to put in 400 hours of “sweat equity” labor. When all requirements are met, the family may purchase a Habitat home with a 0% interest mortgage.
