The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy was founded in 1991 with a start-up grant from Rotary Charities of Traverse City. By the end of 2004, we had protected over 16,785 acres of land. Our operating region includes Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Manistee counties in beautiful northwest Michigan. Twenty-eight nature preserves have been established, and we hold 115 conservation easements. Nearly 49.26 miles of lake, stream and river shoreline are forever protected as a result of our efforts. Our efforts are focused on the permanent protection of the unique farmlands, critical watersheds, wildlife habitats, and one-of-a-kind dunes in our area.
