Chicago Youth Centers

For more than 45 years, Chicago Youth Centers (CYC) has worked to meet the needs of kids growing up in some of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, expanding from two community centers in 1956, to eight centers, ten Head Start sites, a licensed child welfare unit and a year-round overnight camp. CYC and its programs continually are evolving to meet the changing needs of the communities. CYC works with local schools, community groups and other children’s service organizations to help more kids and give them more opportunities. CYC serves more than 11,000 young people a year, more than half of whom live below the poverty level, and is the largest Chicago-based independent youth organization in the city.
