The Bay Area Food Bank, a member of America’s Second Harvest, the nation’s network of Food Banks, works through member organizations and special programs to provide nutritious food to meet the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of personal crisis or disaster. We serve over 500 member organizations in 21 counties across Alabama, Mississippi and Florida who provide food without charge to the ill, needy, children, elderly and homeless. We also educate the public regarding domestic hunger, proper nutrition and related issues. In addition, we provide food during time of disaster like the millions of pounds distributed after Hurricane Ivan and Katrina.
