Food for the Hungry was founded in 1971 and helps some of the world’s most disadvantaged people in 47 countries through child development programs, agriculture and clean-water projects, health and nutrition programs, education, micro-enterprise loans and emergency relief. Food for the Hungry exists to fulfill a God-given mandate to help people overcome both physical and spiritual hungers by speaking out to all people about physical and spiritual hungers, sending people to share Christ’s love, and facilitating emergency relief and sustainable development projects.
