Please pray with us for World Vision’s work in North America, including Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Let us not become weary in doing good.—Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Pray for disaster recovery efforts in the United States.
In 2017, record-breaking hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria impacted American families in profound ways. World Vision is responding to these disasters with emergency relief supplies and is working to provide building materials to help families recover and rebuild their homes.
Dear Lord, strengthen World Vision’s staff as they help people in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Island move forward following these disasters. Give them patience and strength, and let Your light shine through them so people affected can see You in the midst of their recovery.
Pray for American educators and students.
About 20 percent of American children live in poverty. The constant struggle can create a sense of hopelessness. World Vision equips schools and their students in high-risk neighborhoods with school supplies and other materials through teacher resource centers throughout the country.
Lord, we long for young people to break out of poverty and live productive lives. Use World Vision, its staff, corporate partners, and donors to equip the next generation to thrive in school and their life beyond graduation.
Pray for families and aid workers affected by the Mexico earthquakes.
More than 300 people died when a magnitude-7.1 earthquake struck central Mexico Sept. 19, the 32nd anniversary of the 1985 quake that claimed thousands of lives in and around Mexico City. The tremor was the second-largest quake in less than two weeks and caused dozens of buildings to collapse. Within hours, World Vision staff mobilized to help rescue efforts and deliver relief supplies to affected communities. Pray for comfort for victims’ families and for extra energy and compassion for aid workers.
Almighty Father, we ask for Your mercy on those affected by the earthquake. Protect people. Guide aid workers and emergency responders in the hard-hit areas and as relief and recovery measures continue.
Pray for poverty-reduction efforts in Mexico.
More than half of Mexicans live at or below the country’s poverty line, even though Mexico is considered an upper middle-income nation, according to the World Bank. The country has one of the world’s widest gaps between the rich and the poor. World Vision is addressing the need for jobs by providing training and income-generating opportunities for struggling families in northern Mexico.
Lord God, You know the needs in Mexico — and the solutions as well. Please provide wisdom to World Vision and others working to equip families for more secure futures. Help Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to continue working toward his goal of reducing poverty levels.
Pray for continued wise stewardship of resources.
Donors in the United States and Canada together provide about half of the funding for World Vision’s work in nearly 100 countries. This is a huge blessing for the children and families who benefit from sponsorship projects and other programs in their communities. And it’s a great responsibility for the North American offices to be wise stewards of such faithful giving.
Lord, we know You value wise financial stewardship. Please continue to give wisdom to World Vision staff so that donated funds are used for best results among the children, families, and communities World Vision serves in Your name.
